Can A Garden Be Considered A Virtual Reality
BBC/Remarkable TV/Gary Moyes
From the makers of Your Home Made Perfect, a new show heading to BBC Two and iPlayer called Your Garden Made Perfect will use cutting-edge technology and VR (virtual reality) to show owners the true potential of their outdoor areas.
Gardens (however big or small) are seen as extensions of the home – and especially during lockdown, our outdoor spaces have never been so important.
Airing on Thursday 4th February at 8pm on BBC Two, and presented by Angela Scanlon, this six-part series will give viewers inspiration and ideas on how to transform their gardens into the most desirable space in their house.
Homeowners will stand in digital versions of their uninspiring plots, where an extraordinary transformation will take place, revealing spaces that fundamentally improve the way people live.
'This show is not about helping people plant bulbs or keep hydrangea hydrated. It's about using design to transform undervalued outdoor spaces and enrich our lives,' says Angela. 'That sounds a bit grand but I think the last year has shown how much joy, ease and comfort we get from our gardens or balconies or whatever space we have. The VR helps people to understand the potential outside their windows, without risk.'

What will happen in each episode of Your Garden Made Perfect?
It follows a similar format as Your Home Made Perfect but in this garden series, each episode will feature two stories.
The first story is a big budget transformation and competing garden designers go head-to-head to produce their vision of how a neglected outdoor space could be reimagined. The owners must then decide which design to turn into a reality. It's designer vs. designer as they vie to win the commission and build their garden in real-life, but the ultimate goal is a new garden space that allows the family to live in a way they could previously only dream of.

The second story is a low-cost transformation using cutting edge visual effects to reveal ingenious low-cost hacks that can inspire any outdoor space, especially small spaces. Packed with tips, tricks and plenty of inspiration, you'll see how the gardens look from day to night, through the changing seasons and for years to come.
Who are the garden designers?
Working on the big budget garden transformations will be four award-winning garden designers: Pip Probert, Helen Elks-Smith, Tom Massey and Manoj Malde. Also joining is Joel Bird as the small spaces designer, who will focus on renovating smaller spaces with smaller budgets.

Why should I watch it?
'I want viewers to be inspired to get outside in 2021 and give their gardens some attention – whatever shape or size their outside space – they should reclaim it as prime year-round living spaces and it doesn't have to be done on a big budget,' says Angela. 'Equally, I hope viewers who have been considering making that leap for a big transformation feel encouraged and empowered with new ideas to go for it, to create their own slice of paradise which they can enjoy for years to come.
'Even if you don't own a garden or have never gardened in your life – this show will wow you with incredible and ingenious design solutions.'

Kitty Walshe, Joint-Managing Director for Remarkable TV, adds: 'With the nation having been on lockdown, gardens have never played such an important role. They've allowed us to step outside and escape from being confined inside. Your Garden Made Perfect will transform how people use outdoor space, showcasing breathtaking designs that will allow us to all discover the hidden potential that lies just beyond our back door.'
